Aussies remain loyal when shopping online

Internet shopping has grown enormously over the past few years and Aussies are increasingly using their debit cards to buy goods from online retailers.

A recent survey undertaken by National Australia Bank (NAB) confirmed that the number of people purchasing items via the web is increasing all the time – although bricks and mortar stores are still dominating the market overall.

The latest MasterCard Worldwide Survey on Online Shopping Behaviour has added to the NAB research by finding out which retailers are doing the best out of the internet retail boom.

It discovered that despite the fact Aussies now have easy access to stores all around the globe, the vast majority have remained loyal to Australian traders.

Around three-quarters of survey respondents said they preferred to buy products from stores that they are familiar with. This is remarkable when taking into account the potential savings to be had when shopping overseas.

With the Aussie dollar still very strong, people down under are finding that items are far cheaper when being shipped in from abroad, but it seems this is not enough to prise them away from their favourite Australian retailers.
