Australian travellers 'may not need to drain their savings accounts'

People looking to go away may not need to wipe out their savings accounts.

An article in the Brisbane Times has pointed out that there are many ways in which people can manage to go on holiday, despite the economic downturn.

Some companies are offering packages that allow holidaymakers to pay for their vacation in instalments, making the payment easier to manage.

One of the most important things to remember is to save up for the remaining money owed after the initial payment, the news provider advised, meaning it may be worth looking to compare savings accounts.

In addition, the cost can be spread further by using a credit card or debit card. An effective method is to ‘pre-load’ the card with money so as to not get into too much credit card debt.

More and more people are opting to use debit cards instead of credit cards, according to new research from the Reserve Bank of Australia.
