Most wealthy Aussies live in Sydney
Sydney can lay claim to seven of Australia’s ten wealthiest postcodes, new figures show.
A study by the Tax Office revealed that 2027 is the country’s most affluent postcode with a mean taxable income of $186,202.
The postcode covers the east Sydney suburbs of Darling Point, Edgecliff and Point Piper, the Daily Telegraph reported.
According to the data, the second richest New South Wales postcode – which also ranks fourth nationally – is 2088 at a mean taxable income of $156,063.
This lies across Sydney Harbour at Mosman and Spit Junction.
Sydney’s third wealthiest postcode was 2030, which centres on Dover Heights and Vaucluse. The postcode is home to businessman James Packer, who is worth an estimated $4 billion.
In recent news that may encourage people to compare debit cards and credit cards before engaging in a shopping splurge, the recent CommSec National Performance Gauge claimed that Australians are now enjoying their strongest spending power for decades.
