Pooled Energy are a Sydney-based electricity retailer on a mission to help you save on your bills, while keeping your pool looking it’s best and taking some pressure of the grid.
Pooled Energy currently offers its electricity plans in NSW only.
With Pooled Energy, you’ll have the choice of two electricity plans: an Electricity and Pool Plan, which is a Market Offer for new customers that features electricity and pool services, or an Electricity Only Plan a Standing Offer for existing customers. However, the price of your electricity plan will depend on the type of tariff you choose - time of day or anytime.
Since all the action will happen poolside, Pooled Energy uses smart technology to help manage your electricity usage. If you’re a Pooled Energy customer, you will have a sensor and a smart automation system installed, called an Intelligent Pool Controller (IPC). The IPC then communicates with the Network Operating Centre (NOC), which communicates with the weather bureau and National Energy Market (NEM) as well as the grid.
Through this process, your pool’s electricity usage and chemistry is constantly being optimised for factors like swimming activity, the cost and price of electricity and the state of the grid.
Once you sign up to a Pooled Energy electricity plan, you will be charged a one-off $330 installation fee and a monthly management fee of $67.
Pooled Energy are all for reducing your electricity consumption, in fact, according to the retailer, if households with pools were to use 30% less electricity, the country would save an average of 1.5 tonnes of coal a year.
As part of their service, Pooled Energy offer a free, no obligation pool inspection to ensure your pool is the right fit.
According to Pooled Energy, if every pool owner in Australia switched to Pooled Energy, as a nation, we’d stop 4.2 million tonnes of carbon being released into the atmosphere each year.
While Pooled Energy are committed to help cut down your usage and shrink your bills, their services will also provide you with the tools to help cut down on the chemicals and maintenance required for your pool.
If you decide that Pooled Energy is a match for your household, you’ll need to sign up and agree to their contract. Pooled Energy will then contact your current retailer and make the transfer on your behalf. One thing to keep in mind is that Pooled Energy only offer electricity, so you will need to keep your current gas provider.
