Buyers’ agents are in hot demand in inner-city areas such Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

The AAP reports that although there are only a relatively small number of agents dealing exclusively with residential property sales, this belies the popularity of the service they provide.

Buyers agents have been around since the early 1990s and work to protect the interest of home loan customers at property auctions.

"We know all the tricks of the trade and we also know what a property is worth," said Lisa Bradley, an agent for Finderskeepers.

And while this may be a particularly valuable quality in finding a hot property price, buyers have also this week been urged to compare home loans to avoid ending up with an inflated, uncompetitive deal.

Myrate.com.au published research on Thursday (June 24th) showing that nine out of ten home loan customers have failed to take advantage of the most competitive deal.
