IMF urges governments to help provide affordable housing
Article by Mozo
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has issued a statement urging governments across the world to help provide low-cost housing for their citizens.
Earlier this month, the Australian Bureau of Statistics revealed that the number of people in the country who secured home loans fell to a ten-year low in February this year.
This week, the Housing Industry Association said it would be important for steps to be taken to improve the new home building market in Australia.
A more even taxation of homeowners and renters was recommended by the IMF.
However, it warned that direct interference in the mortgage market could prove to be expensive from a public finance perspective.
The IMF stated that it is important that governments work on promoting the availability of affordable housing for low-income families.
Those who want to find the best deals when purchasing a new property might want to head online to compare home loans.
