One-third of couples 'want property before kids'
More than one-third (34 per cent) of couples in Australia are thinking about delaying their plans to start a family because they want to get home loans and purchase a property.
These are the findings of a PDRnationwide survey, which revealed that many want their own home before they have children, reports News Limited newspapers.
Speaking to the publication, research director for the firm Aaron Maskrey, commented: "The recent softening of values in many areas are likely to tempt many potential purchasers into home ownership as these conditions will not hold in the long term."
He noted that the price of a house is impacting on major life decisions for many people in the country.
Those who are considering getting finance for a new property might want to head online to compare home loans to see what is available.
Getting a mortgage might be more appealing for young couples after the government's decision to ban exit fees for those who want to change to a different provider for better rates.
