Property price hikes 'shouldn't deter British migrants'

Freelance property journalist and founder of Marc Da-Silva believes an increasing number of Britons could migrate down under in the near future.

The country has always been popular among UK residents who are looking for a better lifestyle and this looks set to continue.

A recent study conducted by BIS Shrapnel suggested the Australian property market is starting to improve.

Mr Da-Silva said that house prices could start to climb again in 2013, but this will not deter Britons from taking out mortgages in the country.

He added that more people will find it easier to gain access to Australia, as the government is lowering the pass mark needed to obtain a visa.

"That could potentially fuel demand for Brits, amongst other internationals, to move to Australia. They are opening the doors," the property expert remarked.

The pound has also gained some ground against the dollar, which might also encourage UK citizens to start a new life in the southern hemisphere.
