The Star Home Loan from Liberty is available to both owner occupiers and investors and offers rates starting from 4.44% p.a. (4.74% p.a. comparison rate*) for owner occupier borrowers with a loan-to-value ratio (LVR) under 65% (i.e. you need a deposit of 35% or a decent amount of equity).
There are a few different rate tiers that apply to this loan though which depend on what type of borrower you are and your LVR. But no matter your LVR, loan amounts are available between $50,000 and $3,000,000.
On top of relatively competitive rates the home loan also comes with a huge amount of flexibility. You can choose to repay both the principal and interest or alternatively opt for interest only repayments. There's also the choice of either weekly, fortnightly or monthly repayments, so you can set up your repayments to match your pay cycle.
Additional repayments can be made without extra charge and you can choose to dip into that extra cash through the redraw facility. Keep in mind there is a minimum redraw amount of $1,000. If you prefer to keep your money stashed in an offset account, you'll be happy to hear that this home loan also comes with a 100% offset facility.

I had to push back settlement twice because of the bank not being organised. I then sold a property that I loaned against, so they had to release it which was a nightmare. They were supposed to take a percentage but ended up taking the full amount, which I didn't find out about until settlement day. Despite calling multiple times, they didn't allow for settlement fees, so it couldn't settle that day. Anyway got pushed back twice, they had my lawyers details so no excuse for not knowing rates adjustment and other fees. I had even filled out a form to give permission for them to contact my lawyer directly. Anyway settlement got pushed back twice again, my lawyer was pretty horrified with the way I was treated, and the lack of professionalism.

Liberty came through for me when other banks did not. They have been really good whenever I’ve asked for a rate decrease in line with the RBA.

Do yourselves a favour and stay away from Liberty. I have a SMSF home loan and am still paying 6% interest rate. They have not passed on anything in the last 4 rate cuts, they are shameless and refuse to pass on anything.
