Car insurance customers 'need to look at a policy's details'
Prospective car insurance customers have been urged to look at the details of policies before they buy them.
Those who compare car insurance online should check on the size of the excess, because cheaper options may be available to those with a larger excess, according to a spokesperson for insurance firm AAMI.
He told News Limited newspapers that there are a number of things consumers need to look out for when taking out a policy.
For example, the expert suggested checking how much money will be paid out in the event of a theft of valuables left in a vehicle as well as whether windscreen cover is included.
The representative added that it may also be advisable to see whether or not repairers utilise genuine parts and if emergency costs will be covered in the event of a breakdown in a remote spot.
Earlier this year, Theo Marinis of Marinis Financial Group told News.com.au that Aussies could face "enormous heartache" if they do not have sufficient insurance.
