Drivers 'more likely to claim on car insurance when stressed'
Aussie drivers hoping to avoid a claim on their car insurance should ensure they are calm and relaxed before they get behind the wheel, recent research suggests.
In a survey conducted by SGIO of motorists in Western Australia, it was found that three in five young people will take more risks while driving if they are worked up, reports the West Australian.
Rob Cory, spokesperson for the firm, said a busy schedule and lifestyle should not be allowed to have an adverse effect on the care taken by drivers.
"Stress can affect your concentration and losing focus for even one second puts you at greater risk of a collision," he said.
Motorists concerned that a collision or accident may leave them unable to afford to fix their transport may want to compare car insurance online to get financial help restoring their vehicle.
This comes after a spokesperson from Transport and Main Roads told the Sunshine Coast Daily that older motorists need to ensure they adhere to the legal requirement that they get regular tests by a doctor to assess their suitability to be behind the wheel.
