The company was praising the scheme after noting that it has been recognized by Money Magazine and the ABF for helping to save energy and cut gas costs.

Real claimed that those who compare car insurance and opt for the Pay as You Drive option can find an "innovative choice for those who drive less kilometers but still desire confident coverage when they do".

In a statement, it also argued that the program provides multiple opportunities for a variety of personal needs where other companies do not.

Elsewhere, the firm suggested that by recognizing their customers’ loyalty by providing them with 10 per cent premium bonuses as a "thank you" in their Real Loyalty Rewards program, it aims to go "above and beyond the usual standard business ideal".

Meanwhile, retail giant Coles this week launched a new car insurance product which is backed by its parent conglomerate Wesfarmers.
