The comprehensive car insurance policy from Bankwest is a winner for dependable drivers and anyone after a little extra cover for valuables inside their vehicle. The no claims bonus rises to a massive 70% with this policy, and you’ll have dedicated cover for mobility devices, disability aids, baby seats and capsules, plus other personal property. There’s also very decent coverage limits for emergency repairs, transport and accommodation costs after an accident.

Key features

The big ticket on the Bankwest comprehensive car insurance policy has got to be the no claims bonus which can rise to a 70% discount on your annual premium. Bankwest calculates this by looking at the number of years you’ve been driving and your claims and accident history.

The comprehensive policy covers you for a wide range of events from collisions, theft and vandalism to fire, storm and flood damage as standard. New-for-old car replacement is included as long as your vehicle is under two years old, and other handy specifics like up to $2,000 for replacement keys and $1,000 trailer and caravan cover are also part of the package.

There’s great post-accident coverage, including up to $800 for emergency repairs and $600 for accommodation costs (if an accident happens and you’re stranded more than 200km away from home). Personal property within your car also gets good coverage in this policy, with baby seats and capsules being covered for $500, disability and mobility aids covered for $1,000, and an additional $500 for other personal items (excluding phones, computers, cash and business tools).

Any catches

Like any car insurance policy, there are coverage limits or conditions on all items and events, so be sure to check your PDS for details. You’ll also want to be aware of the $500 excess for young drivers and that it increases to $1,500 if they’re not listed on the policy.
