Do you capiche Carpeesh? No? Well here’s the lowdown. Carpeesh Comprehensive Car Insurance comes with four types of cover. These are good driver, young driver, worker and rideshare. So depending on what type of driver you are and what you use your wheels for, you could potentially benefit from a more tailored level of insurance.
This comprehensive car insurance policy offers up to $20 million of legal liability, as well as cover for your own car, should it be damaged or stolen. Carpeesh does not charge an excess if you are involved in an accident that is not your fault. That is, so long as you make a reasonable attempt to provide the contact details of the other driver or drivers involved. There is also no excess for window glass repairs (excess applies for window glass replacements).
Carpeesh’s policy comes with up to $750 worth of cover for emergency transport and accommodation, plus another $750 worth of cover for a hire car following a theft ($40 per day). Removal of debris is covered up to $350 and storage costs, damage to personal effects and towing costs are all covered up to $250. If you are unfortunate enough to hit a wild animal, up to $100 will be put towards the animal's recovery. Or if the animal cannot be saved, Carpeesh will donate $100 to a wildlife recovery centre instead.
While Carpeesh does not offer a no claims discount, it does have its own unique way of rewarding you for driving safely. Instead, you can earn DrivePoints through Carpeesh’s driver safety app. Through the app you can also update your details and report a claim at the scene. Using a bluetooth enabled beacon placed inside your vehicle, the app samples data to provide feedback on your trips. Hence, you can earn DrivePoints!
Besides all this there are of course a few fees to note: the driver safety app will cost you a one-off fee of $45 + GST and Carpeesh does charge extra to pay in instalments. To pay monthly will cost an extra $6.50 + GST and to pay fortnightly will cost an extra $3 + GST per payment. There’s also a $50 + GST early cancellation fee and a 1.5% annual merchant fee, when you pay annually.
With the ability to do almost everything through Carpeesh’s app, this particular policy might appeal to the more tech savvy driver. It’s also a worthy pick if you’re after a more tailored insurance plan.
The Carpeesh driver safety app does come with a one-off payment of $45 and it is an essential part of the policy. So, you will need to buy it if you want to take out this insurance cover. Carpeesh also charges extra to pay your premium in instalments.
