If you’re searching for extensive protection for your home from a number of potential events, as well as the assistance you’ll need if an event does occur, then look no further than the CBA Building Insurance policy by Hollard. With a number of additional extras such as automatic flood cover and temporary accommodation costs on top of all the basic features, it's a policy that could be worth checking out. Not to mention, CBA won a 2023 Mozo Experts Choice Award for this policy in the Exceptional Quality Landlord Insurance category.
Unlike many other insurers, CBA by Hollard provide flood cover among their range of standard insured events in addition to cover for fire, theft, and damage from falling trees amongst others. You’ll also have the choice to purchase cover for accidental loss and damage as an optional extra.
If one of the aforementioned events does occur and causes damage or destruction to your home, the CBA Building Insurance policy by Hollard will cover the cost of temporary repairs, as well as debris removal expenses and the (reasonable) costs of lock replacements.
The policy will also cover a number of the physical components of your property such as your garage, gates, swimming pool and even your bathroom fixtures, however, your garden features such as trees and plants won’t be covered by Comminsure.
Following an insured event, Building Insurance by Hollard will provide temporary accommodation for its policyholders and their family for up to 12 months - including any pets that'll have $3,000 of accommodation sorted.
And just in case the costs of repairing or replacing your contents is more than you anticipated, you'll be covered for an additional 25% of the sum insured with Commonwealth Bank's gap cover (aka underinsurance protection).
With its bundle of extra features and comprehensive cover for a range of possible events, CBA Building Insurance by Hollard is a quality option for any homeowner looking to protect their property.
While the CBA by Hollard policy will cover your home for a variety of different events, storm surges which create ocean waves that result in damage to your property from won’t be covered.
Be sure that you read the full product disclosure statement before you take out the policy as there are other exclusions and cover limits that might be deal breakers for you.

Insured for over 20 years, never made a claim,we felt comfort in believing we had taken every possible step in life to protect our selves and property if the unforseen was to ever to happen. Since following the Oct 2022 floods where our home and all our contents were completely inundated with the catastrophic disastrous floods we have since discovered it is not that easy. Left homeless following the floods we have had to fight so hard for CBA to pay for temporary accommodation. We found our own accommodation as CBA insurance made no attempt to assist us in finding somewhere to live. At no time did they offer to assist with clean up or send any representative from their company. They did eventually start sending incompetent building service providers out to do sow. Wow they tried to lowball us then didn't even have a project manager, then another building company were employed. Strip out of house DID Not occur for 4 and a half months following the floods. Nine months after the floods finally a loss adjuster and other service providers appointed by CBA met us at the property. Yes 9 months it took for a loss adjuster to turn up. Once again SOW were supposed to be completed but it's almost 12 months, yes you are reading right 12 months and apparently none of these so called professionals have submitted their SOW, or so CBA insurance claim. Delays delays Lies and more lies. Meanwhile trying to ring anyone about the claim , put on hold for two hours then get fed false information, Noone person on the same page. We get ignored constantly. Have tried to ask the question if our temporary accommodation will be continuing after the 52 weeks, no answer. We have four weeks left of our 52 weeks paid accommodation left then what. Homelessness. We are left with a shell of a house that's inhabitable. So much for the warm fuzzy feeling of feeling secure because you have insurance. Biggest trauma of our lives we have been through and we have been treated terrible. Not what we planned for our retirement.

Customer service is terrible and also made us wait a whole month and decline our request. We are from Perth and they don’t even have face to face meeting and have to wait at least an hour for a quick phone call. Will definitely change to other better insurance company. Do not waste your time and money!

We put in a claim in early Feb this year it is now may and still has yet to be resolved. There has been no communication from them only when I call them. Every time I do they tell me I need to send more information they have the builder's report and the plumbing report but now they say the reports don't have enough information on them. Once I have my outcome I will be changing. They charge way too much and they have poor customer skills. They don't speak English well enough to understand them. I do not recommend it.

I have six home insurance policies and unfortunately I've had to make a claim a couple of times. It has been generally been a good experience.
