This policy gives you the breathing room that comes with underinsurance protection of up to 25% of the sum insured as well as the flexibility to choose your own excess. You’re covered for a host of natural events like a fire, storm, lightning strike, tsunami or earthquake, but also if you accidentally damage your own property or if your house is vandalised or burgled. However, you’re not covered for any damage that is of a direct result of a power or storm surge.
At this level of policy you can enjoy the luxury of new for old contents replacement and the peace of mind of knowing that your contents are covered even while you move. This includes cover for jewellery up to the value of $2,500, credit cards to the value of $5,000 and any tools of the trade to the value of $2,500. The beauty of combining both your home and contents insurance with this policy is that you’re also covered for building materials and landscaping as well as any gates or fences you have on your property.
SGIO also offers a couple of attractive discounts for customers looking to insure both their home and contents at the Home Plus level of cover. If you have a clean claims history you will be able to save as much as 25% in the form of a no claims bonus and could accrue a further 25% loyalty discount depending on the amount of policies you have with SGIO and the number of years you’ve maintained a relationship with the insurer.

I have been with SGIO for cars, home and contents insurance. They have no respect for brand loyalty or the fact that I had made one small claim in the 8 years I was with them. When I actually needed to make a claim (relatively small but significant to us) I was denied and was hand-balled to the builder, who hand balled straight back to insurer. In the end my claim was denied and this happened on two seperate occasions.

SGIO are very fast and fluent when they help you with claims.

SGIO is a great company that offers good premiums and a great product. They have always paid out any claims we have made quickly and without issue. I have been with this company for many years for this reason and feel confident our home and contents are in safe hands.

They may be a little more expensive, accidental damage, personal property out of the home and motor burn out etc are optional extras. However the customer service is second to none. They can't help you enough. Businesses could learn a lot from SGIO on how and what customer relations and service is. Call centre is in Australia, which is a major plus for myself (total onshore operation).
