With Woolworths Standard Cover Buildings Insurance you’re covered against a whole range of natural and man-made events that could harm your humble abode. For example if a fire, storm, earthquake, tsunami or lightning strike was to take place, you would be covered but you’re also covered in the event of a riot, burglary or act of vandalism. While you’re covered for all of those things, it is important to note that there are exceptions surrounding power and storm surges and you won’t be covered for any accidental damage that you might cause while renovating or that your pets or children could cause.
Aside from the bricks and mortar of your home, Woolworths Standard Cover Buildings Insurance also has the smaller things that make up your physical home covered. This policy comes with up to $750 worth of cover for landscaping, up to $300 worth of cover to replace the locks and cover for any gates or fences on the property up to the sum insured. If the damage is so bad that you can’t actually stay in your home, you’re not only covered for your own emergency accommodation but you’ll have up to $500 to spend to find some temporary accommodation for any of your furry friends, too. What you aren’t covered for however, is any building materials that you might have on your property at the time of the accident.
This policy didn’t win in the Low Cost category for no reason. Woolworths Standard Cover Buildings Insurance comes with a few discounts that will help to make it even more affordable for you. You can nab a 20% discount for signing up online and a further 10% for combining your home and contents policy with Woolworths.
Who it's good for:
If you’re after a comprehensive home insurance policy on a budget then this policy represents serious value. You’ll still be covered for a range of incidents but just be aware that your claims caps for things like landscaping aren’t as large as they would be with a more expensive policy.
Woolworths Standard Cover Buildings Insurance doesn’t come with any underinsurance protection. This means that you’ll have to make sure you’re keeping Woolworths updated when you renovate any of your home’s fixtures and fittings so that if something were to go wrong and you needed to make a claim, you’ll be covered.
