Before now, Aussie cruise vacationers searching the online marketplace only had the option to take out traditional travel insurance policies but according to InsureandGo not all cruise related incidents were covered. To solve this problem InsureandGo has launched an Australian online first tailoring travel insurance specifically for cruises.

InsureandGo offers Australian first travel insurance for cruises

InsureandGo’s general manager Sebastien Kaisin said cruise holidays are more popular in Australia than in any other part of the world, with more than 830,000 Australians taking a cruise last year (up 20% year on year). “Before this policy was launched, passengers would have taken the usual ‘comprehensive’ or ‘basic’ insurance policy but most of the specific items which relate to cruise travel were not included,” Kaisin said.

According to eGlobal Travel Media, the major features of the new cruise policy include $5,000 to $50,000 additional expense cover for missed cruise departure, missed port cover and economic compensation in the case of bad weather or mechanical breakdown causing missed port visiting, lost, stolen or damaged luggage cover, cabin confinement cover and cruise delay cover.

InsureandGo’s cruise policy also offers unlimited cover for medical expenses onboard and onshore and allows Aussies to adjust the policy to their cruise itinerary including both international and domestic destinations. “Cruise enthusiasts can now rest assured they are covered should the unexpected arise during their voyage at sea” Kaisin said.

Mozo advises Aussies to always compare the travel insurance market to ensure they are getting the best deal, before they sign up.
