Important things to know about Bankwest travel insurance

What your policy covers

It’s important to know what your Bankwest complimentary travel insurance covers, because not only will this help to keep you protected while you're overseas, but it can help you decide between taking up the complimentary insurance and buying a stand-alone travel insurance policy.
Your Bankwest travel insurance will cover you for:

What pre-existing medical conditions are covered

Bankwest complimentary travel insurance will cover 36 pre-existing medical conditions automatically and without extra charge. This includes a single, uncomplicated and natural pregnancy up to 23 weeks.
You can also apply to have your medical condition covered under your travel insurance policy, but you will be charged an extra fee, and there’s no guarantee Bankwest will agree to cover it.

Visit our guide for more information on travelling with a pre-existing medical condition.

How to activate complimentary travel insurance

The good news is that Bankwest travel insurance is very easy to activate - you’ll be automatically covered as long as you:

Visit our dedicated guide if you’d like more information on how to activate complimentary credit card travel insurance.

How long Bankwest travel insurance will cover you

How long your travel insurance can last will depend on which credit card you have.

Gold Mastercards - up to 3 consecutive months

Platinum Mastercards - up to 6 months

World Mastercards - up to 12 months

Cover can’t be extended past these terms, except in case of an emergency or disruption to your plans that you can’t control, in which case it can be extended up to 4 weeks. So if you’re looking at taking an extended holiday, think about choosing a stand-alone policy.

Bankwest travel insurance policies: the fine print

What isn’t covered by your Bankwest travel insurance is as important as what is! You should keep in mind any exclusions and fine print so you know exactly what you’re covered for in case of an emergency. Here are a few pieces of fine print to look out for:

Making a claim on your Bankwest travel insurance policy

Bankwest do not deal with travel insurance claims directly, so if you need to make a claim on your complimentary travel insurance you should contact Allianz, either on their website, or by email or phone.
There are a few important details you need to remember when making a claim, including:
