Terms, conditions, exclusions, limits and sub-limits may apply to any of the insurance products shown on the Mozo website. These terms, conditions, exclusions, limits and sub-limits could affect the level of benefits and cover available under any of the insurance products shown on the Mozo website. Please refer to the relevant Product Disclosure Statement and the Target Market Determination on the provider's website for further information before making any decisions about an insurance product.

Any information provided on this page should be considered a summary and general advice only. All information should be verified before purchase via the relevant Product Disclosure Statement (PDS).

What is included in a Boomers international travel insurance policy?

Boomers have three international travel insurance policies. These are the Essentials, Comprehensive, and Non-Medical policies. Here’s a brief overview of what travel insurance cover you can expect from these options.

But remember: check Mozo’s data fields or the Boomers product disclosure statement (PDS) for details on pay-out limits and general exclusions for specific parts of their travel insurance policy across the range.

Boomers’ Essentials policy is their budget option, which may provide the bare essential benefits, like:

If you opt for Boomers’s Comprehensive travel insurance policy, then you could also be covered for:

On Boomers’ Non-Medical policy, you will not be covered for any claims relating to medical issues whilst travelling. This includes:

Does Boomers travel insurance have COVID-19 cover?

Boomers does provide some cover for COVID-19, however it may be subject to certain conditions. One important condition to note is that if there’s a Smartraveller warning for your destination which is at the level of ‘Do not travel’ or ‘Reconsider your need to travel’, then no COVID-19 cover will be provided.

COVID-19 related benefits may include:

What other optional extras can I add to my Boomers policy?

Increased item limits cover

If you wish to increase the cover limit for specific personal items, like luggage, a camera or jewellery, you can pay an extra premium to do so. The maximum combined cover limit is $7,000 per person for all items. However, this option isn’t available on their international Essentials plan.

Cruise pack

If you’re travelling on a cruise ship, then you’ll need to purchase cruise travel insurance on top of your policy. If you do not get this optional extra, then any claims related to any part of your journey on a cruise ship will not be covered. However, if your cruise doesn’t leave Australian waters, or if you’re only cruising down rivers, you won’t need to apply for this add-on, as it is automatically covered under their activities.

Boomers’s cruise cover offers the following benefits:

Snow pack

Snow travel insurance is important if you’re hitting the slopes, and without it you may not be covered for any claims relating to snow sports. Boomers’s snow sports cover only applies if you’re skiing or snowboarding on-piste (meaning within the boundaries of the ski field), you are not competing in a race, or participating in a professional capacity. To be eligible for this add-on, you need to be aged under 75 years old.

Boomers’s snow sports cover offers the following benefits:

Adventure pack

Boomers automatically cover a lot of different activities under their policy. These range from archery to go-karting, paintball, and even rockwall climbing. But, if your taste in adventure is a little riskier, then you’ll need to purchase the Adventure pack to get the cover benefits for those activities. To be eligible for this add-on, you need to be aged under 75 years old.

Boomers’ Adventure pack includes some of the following activities:

This list isn’t exhaustive, so check out Boomers’ PDS to see if your preferred adventure activities are covered, and if there are any important conditions to note.

Are pre-existing medical conditions covered under Boomers’s travel insurance?

Boomers does not automatically include cover for pre-existing medical conditions, although you can apply for cover of your conditions when getting a quote for your policy. You will only be covered if your pre-existing condition is listed on your certificate of insurance, so make sure you disclose any conditions that you do have at the time of applying.

To apply for cover of your pre-existing medical condition, contact Boomers on 1800 780 577. They will then be able to tell you if your condition can be covered.

What exclusions are there to look out for in a Boomers travel insurance policy?

If the country you are travelling to, or choose to remain in, has a ‘Reconsider your need to travel’ or ‘Do not travel’ warning issued by the Australian government’s Smartraveller website, then you will not be covered under Boomers’s policies.

A brief list of general exclusions also include claims relating to:

What do I do if there’s an emergency during my trip?

If there’s an emergency, contact Boomers’ 24 hour emergency assistance and claims line on:

How do I make a claim with Boomers travel insurance?

To make a claim, head online to Boomers’s claim portal (through Allianz Global Assistance) and follow the prompts, or request a claim form by emailing travelclaims@allianz-assistance.com.au. You will need to have supporting documents which are relevant to your claim, like receipts, police reports, or hospital invoices. Boomers will aim to notify you of the success of your claim within 10 working days.

Is it possible to cancel my Boomers travel insurance policy?

You can cancel your policy and receive a full-refund within 14 days of purchasing it, provided you have not started your journey or intend to make a claim. If you want to cancel after the 14 day cooling-off period, then you could receive a partial refund, depending on how much time has passed.
