Tilda Travel Insurance FAQs

Does Tilda Travel insurance cover pre-existing medical conditions?

Make sure you mention any pre-existing medical conditions before you purchase a policy. While Tilda Travel automatically covers 43 different pre-existing medical conditions (such as coeliac disease, asthma, and diabetes), this is usually dependent on whether you meet specific criteria. For example, pre-existing asthma is automatically covered by Tilda Travel, as long as you don’t have any other lung disease or are over the age of 60 at your policy purchase date. Check the PDS on their website to make sure the policy covers your pre-existing medical condition and that you meet any criteria mentioned, before purchasing a policy.

Will Tilda Travel insurance cover me if I’m pregnant while travelling?

While Tilda Travel considers pregnancy a pre-existing condition, it is not automatically covered. Tilda Travel will cover the cost of unexpected serious complications of pregnancy and childbirth that occur up to the 26th week of pregnancy if you’re pregnant with a single child, or up to your 19th week of pregnancy if you’re pregnant with twins or multiples. Check to make sure you meet the policy's pregnancy cover criteria if you plan to travel while pregnant. If you find that you don’t fit the specific criteria, read our travel insurance for pregnancy guide to find a policy that’s better suited to you.

Does Tilda Travel offer cruise cover?

If you love a good cruise, you'll be happy to find that Tilda Travel offers cruise cover. When purchasing a policy, you'll need to disclose whether you'll be travelling with an "Australian cruise" on domestic waters, or whether you'll be travelling overseas, in which case you'll need to provide information about which countries you’ll be visiting. Keep in mind, that you’ll need to purchase the additional cruise pack if you’re cruising for more than 2 days.

Does Tilda Travel cover adventure sports?

Tilda Travel Insurance covers sports and leisure activities provided you take reasonable safety precautions when participating in such activities, such as wearing a helmet when cycling. So if you're an adrenaline junkie, make sure to check the PDS as there are a few specific activities which Tilda Travel do not automatically cover, like hunting, polo and snow-related activities. If you're planning an action-packed trip to the snow, you'll need to purchase an additional Snow Pack benefit on top of your standard plan, as it does not cover snow sports and activities.

Does Tilda Travel offer a cooling-off period when I can cancel my policy?

If you change your mind, Tilda Travel offers a 14-day cooling-off period in which you can cancel your policy and receive a full refund, as long as your trip hasn’t started and you haven’t made a claim. Keep in mind that you won't receive a refund if you cancel after the cooling-off period has ended.
