Woolworths Travel Insurance

Woolworths

Are you on the hunt for a competitive travel insurance policy for your upcoming vacay? If one of Australia’s largest supermarkets Woolworths has captured your eye, this page is for you, as we delve into the varying options available to help you choose your travel insurance match.

About Woolworths

Founded in 1924 as a bargain store, today Woolworths claims the top spot as Australia’s largest supermarket chain, with over 960 stores scattered across the country.

While Woolworths is largely known for its “fresh food”, it’s also a provider of insurance products, including car insurance, life insurance, pet insurance and - what we are going to run through in this guide - travel insurance.

Rates and fees verified as correct at 06 December, 2016. Other information correct at the time of writing.

What travel insurance policies do Woolworths offer?

There are four main policies on offer from Woolworths, which apart from unlimited medical and hospital cover, all come with varying levels of cover. The cheapest and most basic cover is its Saver Travel Insurance. As the name suggests, you’ll save a whole lot of coin by going for this option but miss out on a higher level of cover. The next level up is its Basic Travel Insurance, providing a slightly greater level of cover but still half that of the bells and whistles Comprehensive package. And for all those globetrotters out there who regularly jetset overseas the Multi Trip policy should do the trick.

Benefits of a Woolworths travel insurance policy:

Now that we’ve run you through the four policies to choose from, check out our snapshot of the benefits of taking out a travel insurance policy with Woolworths:

Unlimited medical and hospital cover: There have been plenty of horror stories about medical bills running into the hundreds of thousands overseas. Thankfully all travel insurance policies offered by Woolworths come with the peace of mind of unlimited medical and hospital cover.

Cancellation cover: The Basic, Comprehensive and Multi trip policies all come with some form of cancellation cover, with the premium packages (Comprehensive and Multi Trip) offering the highest level of cover. But keep in mind, cancellation cover isn’t available with the Saver option.

Luggage and personal effects cover: All of the travel insurance policies on offer from Woolworths include cover for lost, stolen or damaged luggage and come with personal effects cover. For those pricier items, you may need to go for the Comprehensive policy which offers the highest amount of cover.

Personal liability: If you damage property whilst overseas, with any of the Woolworths travel insurance policies you’ll have the peace of mind that you’re covered financially (up to a capped amount of course).

Children and dependents travel for free: All of the Woolworths travel insurance policies come with the same benefit of kids being automatically covered. Not only saving you some precious coin, but also saving you time applying for multiple policies!

We should also mention there are a few optional extras you can choose with a higher premium attached, including...

Snow cover: Are the slopes of New Zealand, Japan or Canada calling your name? For those snow bound travellers out there, you might be happy to hear you can get snow cover as an optional extra.

$0 excess: Pay a bit extra when taking out your travel insurance and it will save you from paying excess later on if you need to make a claim.

What's not covered?

Making a claim:

While there’s nothing quite like exploring everything the world has to offer, sometimes mishaps happen along the way. So if you do find yourself in a situation where you need to make a claim, you can either call their customer service line or fill in a form online. Below are the details you might need to provide to Woolworths:

How is Woolworths rated for its travel insurance policies?

It’s one thing to know exactly what’s included in a travel insurance policy, but another thing entirely to see how the travel insurer rates when it comes to customer service. Your best bet? Scroll down to read customer reviews to see whether Woolworths gets the thumbs up from everyday Aussies.
