Australia's best banks revealed
Welcome to Australia’s biggest banking awards!
Over the past 12 months, we’ve tallied over 23,000 ratings from people all over the country. Hundreds of banks, building societies and credit unions were all covered off – from the Big 4 stalwarts, to the tiniest of rural mutuals.
A big congratulations to the winners, and a big thanks to everyone who rated their bank.
And the winners are…
Overall Winner
Greater Building Society
Rated Australia's best overall banking institution for 2011. The Greater scored a quite astonishing 9.18 out of 10 over the last 12 months. To round out the rout, the Greater also picked up the crowns for Best Home Loans (9.42 out of 10) and Best Savings Accounts (9.25 our of 10).
Australia’s Best Bank:
ING Direct
It’s two out of two for ING Direct, who were rated Best Bank (excluding building societies and credit unions) in last year’s awards also. They managed a score of 8.85 of 10 – almost identical to their rating in 2010! ING Direct were also Australia’s Most Recommended and Most Trusted bank. Nice!
Australia's Best Credit Union
Victoria Teachers Credit Union
VTCU continued on from their 2010 success to take the Credit Union gold (and 2nd place overall) with a rocking score of 9.12. Let’s hope they can teach the others how it’s done!
