Yup. After two long years without music festivals (thanks to the pandemic that shall not be named), the Aussie music industry is finally coming back with a vengeance.

Not only are many of our old faves making their valiant return this year, but loads of new festivals are coming up on the scene too.

So, if lockdown sent you a little stir-crazy and you’re itchin’ to have a boogie – then get ready to send it at some of the hottest music festivals of the season:

Ah, Splendour. The quintessential Australian music festival. First starting in 2001, Splendour In The Grass is one of Australia’s biggest annual music festivals, which takes place every July at North Byron Parklands in Byron Bay (A.K.A. Aussie music festival mecca). 

This three-day extravaganza is a helluva time and is famous for serving up killer acts across a wide range of different genres.

This year’s lineup featured the Gorillaz, The Strokes, Tyler The Creator, The Avalanches, Glass Animals, Liam Gallagher, Kacey Musgraves, Duke Dumont, Violent Soho ∙ DMA's, Yungblud, Jack Harlow, Sofi Tukker, Dillon Francis – plus so much more!

Dance music junkie’s, this one’s for you! After a 2-year hiatus, Listen Out is back again in 2022. First launched in 2013, Listen Out is known for its always epic hip-hop and electronic music lineup which it takes to major cities like Melbourne, Perth, Sydney and Brisbane.

This year’s lineup features mega artists like Tove Lo, The Jungle Giants, Disclosure, Doechii, Stace Cadet, KLP, Roddy Ricch and Trippie Redd.

First conceived in Cairns back in 2016, The Grass is Greener festival has already built up a reputation for dishing some of the best in the biz electronic and indie music acts. In 2022, the festival will be making its way around the grounds, with tour dates in Canberra, Geelong and on the Gold Coast.

This year at The Grass is Greener, punters can expect to see artists like Alok, OneFour, PNAU, Sticky Fingers, Ty Dolla $ign, YG, ZHU, Boo Seeka, Mashd N Kutcher and more.

After a hugely successful debut in 2019, Festival X is finally set to return in 2022 with an unbeatable lineup of award-winning hip-hop, dance, EDM and electronic music acts.

Think of Festival X as a hybrid between (the now discontinued) Stereosonic and Superfest. In other words, it’s sure to be a cracker of a day. Get ready for artists like Calvin Harris, Megan Thee Stallion, Don Toliver, Boys Noize, Green Velvet, John Summit, Luude, Marlo, plus loads more!

What better way to ring in the new year than at an epic 3-day music festival with all your mates? While Byron Bay will always be Falls Festival’s original home – this year, Falls will be taking the party to two new locations: Birregurra, Victoria and Fremantle, Western Australia. 

The line-up? Arctic Monkeys, Lil Nas X, Aminé, Ocean Alley, Spacey Jane, DMA’s, G-Flip, Rico Nasty, Peach PRC – and that’s only scratching the surface. And if that’s not enough, The OG Wiggles are set to make a special guest appearance! Take. My. Money.
