For many Australians, the gym is more than just a place to work out. It can be an outlet for stress release, a way of improving overall health or even a means of meeting like-minded people. But if you are going to stick to your 2022 fitness resolutions, it's important to feel satisfied and comfortable in your chosen workout environment.
“From membership flexibility to quality of exercise equipment and classes, there is more than just the cost to consider when you are choosing your fitness provider,” said Peter Marshall, Mozo People’s Choice Awards adjudicator. “Fitness providers are not one size fits all. This is why we asked nearly a thousand Australians to share not only their overall satisfaction with their gym but also their opinion on the individual service aspects that might make or break your experience at the gym.”
Since its introduction to the Australian market a few years ago, F45 has swept Australian gym-goers off their feet. Members of F45 can access up to 30 different group workout styles, which are a unique blend of high-intensity, circuit, and functional training. According to F45, this style of exercise unifies the different muscle groups of the body and helps boost performance across all aspects of life.
Perhaps one of the most compelling aspects of F45 is its fitness community, where members can access the knowledge of professional trainers and be encouraged to achieve their goals by their peers. For those who need a little extra motivation, members can participate in the F45 challenge, a nutritional and training program in which you will receive a body composition scan, track their progress and can access meal plans.
While the cost of joining F45 is on the higher end, it is still a favourite among Australian exercisers, taking out honours in six award categories, including the coveted award for outstanding customer satisfaction.

As the name suggests, Goodlife is all about helping its members to live a healthier and more active lifestyle. From Zumba to spin or even Pilates, Goodlife offers a range of different group classes throughout the day, so you’ll never have to train alone (unless you want to). When it comes to accessing the fitness centre, not all Goodlife gyms are 24/7, so late-night trainers need to double-check with their local gyms before signing up. For the gym-goers who need an extra push, the free Goodlife app allows members to easily book classes and track their progress.
Clubs offer three styles of memberships, blue, platinum and black, so members can pick and choose the added benefits they are after. Platinum members will gain access to free quarterly coaching sessions, all clubs, and even a weekend guest pass.
Goodlife scored two People's Choice awards in 2022, coming out on top for its leading class variety and availability, as well as its quality facilities.

Our judges ranked these providers in order by average rating and then determined an appropriate cut-off point to separate winners from the rest.
