Key features

Whether you're about to buy your first set of wheels or you’re treating yourself to an upgrade, if you’re a student looking for a top-notch car loan, then the Commonwealth Bank Student Car Loan (Fixed) is where it’s at!

The Fixed Student Car Loan comes with competitive fixed rates starting from 6.99% p.a. (7.69% p.a. comparison rate*) on loan amounts of at least $10,000 up to $100,000 with 1-5-year loan term options. This is a secured loan, so you’ll need to use your car as security for the loan. It is only available for new cars or cars that are less than 5 years old.

Having a fixed rate for the life of the loan will give you the flexibility to work your car loan repayments around your budget and lifestyle. There is a choice of either weekly, fortnightly or monthly repayment options, depending on which suits your pay schedule.

On top of all this, the Fixed Student Car Loan allows you to make extra repayments, up to an additional $1000 a year.

There is a $10 a month service fee to keep in mind and if you make a late repayment you will be charged a $20 late payment fee so it is best to set up automatic repayments from your bank account.

Who is it good for

If you’re currently a full-time student with a good financial track record and have the income to afford the car loan repayments, then the Commonwealth Bank Student Car Loan (Fixed) could get you in your new set of wheels!

WARNING: The Comparison Rate combines the lender's interest rate, fees and charges into a single rate to show the true cost of a personal loan. The comparison rates displayed are calculated based on a loan of $30,000 for a term of 5 years or a loan of $10,000 for a term of 3 years as indicated, based on monthly principal and interest repayments, on a secured basis for secured loans and an unsecured basis for unsecured loans. This comparison rate applies only to the example or examples given. Different amounts and terms will result in different comparison rates. Costs such as redraw fees or early repayment fees, and cost savings such as fee waivers, are not included in the comparison rate but may influence the cost of the loan.
