The case for first home-buyer grant extension grows
A number of home loan and construction experts are calling on the government to extend the boost to first-home buyers grant beyond June 30th.
The Sydney Morning Herald reports that the first-home buyers grant has been instrumental in enticing new buyers into the market and has helped revive the property market as a result.
Senior corporate affairs manager at mortgage broker Mortgage Choice Kristy Sheppard said she would back the move to extend the grant wholeheartedly.
"There’s been a huge influx of first-home buyers into the market ever since the first homeowner boost was announced," she insisted.
Aussies eyeing the first rung of the property ladder eagerly may be keen for the grant to be extended, particularly after the Reserve Bank of Australia’s decision to keep interest rates at 3.25 per cent.
However, home loan experts have been near-unanimous in their predictions that there is going to be another hefty interest rate cut in the next couple of months.
