Consumers with NAB bank accounts are being offered discounted insurance through a new partnership.

The National Australia Bank has teamed with NIB Holdings to provide access to cheaper private health insurance to its customers.

Mark Fitzgibbon, managing director of NIB, comments: "We’ve made no secret of the fact that we’re very interested in developing growth and diversification opportunities, particularly in the financial sector."

For people with NAB bank accounts, that could mean cheaper health insurance in the coming months.

Mr Fitzgibbon adds that the development provides NIB both with the chance to form a partnership with one of the Big Four banks and also to increase its own national customer base.

Using NAB ATMs recently got a little cheaper for customers with bank accounts at other institutions.

The bank explained that balance enquiries do not require cash to be transported and carry other cost benefits compared with other ATM transactions.

As such, it reduced the fixed fee for non-NAB bank account customers to check their balances at its ATMs to $0.50 from March 3rd.
