The Council of Small Business Organisations of Australia (COSBOA) has reminded companies across the country that they must be ready for universal pay increases.

As of July 1st, the national minimum weekly wage will rise by 2.9 per cent, much to the delight of struggling workers.

Aussies are now guaranteed to receive at least $606.40 per week and this will come as a timely boost for many people.

The cost of living continues to increase down under and a lot of households have had to dip into their savings accounts in order to cover everyday bills.

It feels like everything has become ridiculously expensive in the past few years and things we have previously taken for granted – like car ownership, electricity and even food – have become unaffordable for many people.

A statement released by the COSBOA reminded employers that they are obliged to hike their workers' pay next month – not that said employees would have let their bosses forget about it anyway.
