Financial comparison website Mozo.com.au today announced the campaign launch of Mozo’s Race for Vice President, a ground-breaking election campaign designed to expose Australia’s top vices – booze, gadgets, takeaway food, clothes and shoes, coffee and others – and find the country’s best candidates to vie for the inaugural Vice President title.

The campaign will run from December 10th 2009 with Australia’s first Vice President inaugurated on Australia Day, January 26th 2010.

Entering the race is simple. Using the Mozo online Vice Calculator, candidates can find out how much they spend on their vice and then write up a simple campaign promise which will be voted on by the public.

In addition to being named Australia’s First Vice President, the winner will receive a $5,000 deposit into a high interest bank account of their choice selected from Mozo.com.au.

Rohan Gamble, managing director of Mozo, said: "It is staggering how much we do all spend on our vices. For instance, our Vice Calculator estimates that a 25 year old who buys just one coffee a day spends a staggering $75,400 over their lifetime on coffee alone – that’s a lot of lattes that could have been put towards that dream home!"
