An award-winning young filmmaker has won a major scholarship from Bartercard, one of the world's largest barter exchanges which has more than 40 offices around Australia.

Brandon Lee, who last week won a BUFTA Award (Bond University Film and Television Award) for Cinematography for his final Grade 12 Assessment film Simplicity, has also won a Bartercard Australia Scholarship and now intends to study at the Gold Coast university from January 2011, franchise.net.au reported.

Speaking about the scholarship, Mr Lee said it had enabled him to compare student finances and consider his best options.

"The Bartercard Scholarship has allowed me to study at one of Australia's leading film schools," he noted.

"Without this scholarship this amazing opportunity would not have been so readily available to me."

According to franchise.net.au, the scholarship is open to children of Bartercard members, employees, franchisees and staff, and represents a combined total of $300,000 in tuition fees.
