Melbourne gets the tick of approval as the world's friendliest city and “Australia’s capital of cool” by the UK's leading travel magazine Conde Nast Traveller and is rated most liveable city for the fourth year in a row on the Economist Intelligence Unit's most liveable city list.
In June Melbourne also ranked as the destination most visited by holidaying Aussies and the top place we’d most like to take a holiday. If you’re considering jet-setting to Melbourne for your next vacay, see your nest egg grow by stashing your cash in a high interest savings account.
On the top 10 World’s Most Liveable City list, Melbourne shone in 5 key categories - healthcare, education, infrastructure and the sub-category sport - and outperformed Vienna, Vancouver, Toronto, Adelaide, Calgary, Sydney, Helsinki, Perth and Auckland, beating 139 other cities assessed.
Destination Melbourne’s chief executive Laura Cavallo said being considered the world’s most liveable and friendliest city will come as no surprise to locals but “it is a great achievement for Melbourne that it continues to be globally recognised.”
“Retaining the World’s Most Liveable City title will continue to reinforce Melbourne’s global position in attracting international visitation, business events, business investment and international education especially from the Asian markets,” added Cavallo.
