Aussie travellers bewitched by Hamilton Island
Aussie travellers appear to be bewitched by the unmatched beauty of Hamilton Island. So much so that before people start scouring the web comparing prepaid travel cards and reading travel credit card reviews, they head to Google to check out the picturesque island, sizing it up as a potential destination.
Hamilton Island, in the Whitsundays, isn't the only Australian destination that Aussies are mad about. Byron Bay, Port Douglas and the majestic Blue Mountains are also among the top-five most popular holiday search terms. Hawaii was the only overseas destination that could compete.
Hamilton Island's online marketing manager Bernie O'Keefe said: "We won't rest on our laurels, being a top search term is just the start and we will continue to innovate and enhance the online experience for our guests."
Uluru, the Great Barrier Reef, New York and Las Vegas were in the top ten searched for terms on Google.
Despite the popularity of domestic destinations among prepaid travel card customers searching the web, Roy Morgan Research believes that more Aussies will spend Christmas abroad this year when compared to last year.
