Many of us will have experienced that feeling of dread as you enter the last day of your holiday, before having to face up to the grim reality of life back at home.

If only we had enough spare cash to stay for a bit longer. Well, thanks to the best exchange rates seen for years, many Aussies do have a bit of extra money to prolong their vacations.

According to bosses at Creative Holidays, the strong Aussie dollar has encouraged more people from down under to book extra nights in exotic destinations around the world.

Speaking to the Australian Associated Press, a spokesperson for the firm said that Aussies now have more opportunity to explore different parts of a country at their leisure without having to cram everything into a week or ten days.

"The trend towards longer trips abroad has also had a positive effect on stopover destinations such as Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Hong Kong and Singapore," the spokesperson commented.
