Aussies are heading overseas to tie the knot
Article by Mozo
Young Aussie couples wanting to make their cash stretch that little bit further are heading abroad with their prepaid travel cards and tying the knot overseas.
According to Global Weddings, the cost of an Australian wedding averages $36,000 – and, as a result, more and more people seem to be heading online to compare travel money cards before going abroad for their nuptials.
Fiji, Bali and even Italy appear to be hot destinations for newlyweds. And heading abroad means the couple can easily combine their wedding with their honeymoon.
Narelle Williams, founder of Global Weddings, said: "We organised 150 weddings this year, which is a 70 per cent increase from the year before and we're expecting more than 150 weddings in 2012.
"Bali is our most popular destination."
Recently, the Australian Bureau of Statistics published figures showing that October is the most popular time for Aussies to get married. July was the least popular month.
