Aussies have always been keen to broaden their horizons and visit different parts of the world – and now there are statistics to prove it.

New figures released by the International Cruise Council of Australasia (ICCA) have shown that a record number of people embarked on a cruise holiday last year.

The study indicated that 623,294 Aussies boarded a luxury liner in 2011, which was an all-time high and a 34 per cent improvement on the previous year.

Of course, the beauty of taking an international cruise is you get to see various different countries and cultures in one trip.

Therefore, securing a prepaid travel card is absolutely vital. Having lots of currency types in your pocket is a real hassle, so buying a multi-currency travel credit card that enables you to pay for goods wherever you are is obviously far more practical.

ICCA chairman Gavin Smith said that the huge demand for cruise excursions will grow even further. Indeed, he predicts that by 2020, one million Aussies will take a cruise each year.
