Aussies 'can save money by avoiding hotels altogether'
Aussies looking to compare travel money cards in order to get the best deal have been told they can significantly cut their accommodation costs while on holiday.
Bosses at Wheretosleep.com.au have suggested too many Australian jetsetters are throwing money away by paying the high rates charged by hotels when overseas.
They believe people can save up to three-quarters on their accommodation expenses by opting for private holiday lets rather than hotels.
This is also the case for those who have decided to have a "staycation" in Australia, the representatives stated.
"Just by looking at the comparison between staying in private accommodation compared to hotels, the savings holidaymakers can make are substantial," commented spokesperson Karen Richards.
She also indicated holidaymakers get a better feel for a destination by avoiding traditional hotels, which tend to point you in the direction of the main tourist traps.
According to the Tourism and Transport Forum, more Aussies are choosing to head abroad instead of taking their holidays within Australia.
