Aussies can still secure cheap accommodation in London

Thousands of Aussies are expected to travel to London for the 2012 Olympic Games, which begin in July.

Organisers started a 100-day countdown to the sporting showpiece earlier this week and excitement levels are growing.

Many people who planned to travel to the UK for the competition had been put off by the astronomical cost of accommodation, as opportunistic hotel and apartment owners have hiked their usual prices considerably.

However, it seems there are still plenty of rooms available across the capital and prices are falling all the time.

Bosses at London Serviced Apartments (LSA) have confirmed some hotels that had originally set their rates at 100 per cent above their usual asking price have now been forced to offer reductions.

Aussies can increase the amount of overseas travel money they have to spend in the English capital by snapping up some discounted accommodation, but they need to be quick.

The LSA representatives stated that once the spare rooms have gone, prices will inevitably start to rise once again.
