With so many budget airlines offering cheap flights overseas, Aussies have never had so many options when booking a foreign holiday.

But what places offer the best value for money?

Well, China is certainly worthy of consideration, as the country is relatively close to Australia and much easier to get to than Europe.

BBC World News presenter Aaron Heslehurst believes the Asian nation is a "fantastic" up-and-coming tourist hot spot that has plenty to offer.

"It is always amazing to talk to resort managers and tourist boards and hear the percentage increase of Chinese visitors," he remarked.

Aussies who have a budget to stick to when travelling abroad will no doubt be keen to get the best exchange rates before they make the trip to Beijing or Shanghai.

Australia's currency has fallen in value in the past few months, but you can still get in the region of 6.36 Chinese yuan for just one dollar.
