Delight as EU enforces data roaming caps

Europe is a delightful place to visit, but doing so can often put far too much strain on people's finances.

After forking out for their flights and accommodation, many Aussies are left with a limited amount of overseas travel money to spend when they eventually get to their destination.

Annoyingly, people who want to use their mobile phone while travelling around the continent are left with a ridiculous bill when they return home.

However, the European Parliament and Council have this week agreed to ban greedy network providers from issuing excessive data roaming charges to holidaymakers and business travellers.

As of July 1st 2014, customers will be able to sign up for an alternative data package that is separate from their everyday phone contract and the rates for making calls and sending messages will be capped at a far more sensible price.

This is fantastic news for holidaymakers who have a strict travel budget to stick to and it will allow people to spend a little bit more money on enjoying themselves while abroad.
