Exchange rates make US trips more attractive
Aussies have always been fascinated by the US and the North American country continues to be a popular holiday destination.
The sheer size of the nation means there is plenty to explore, although it is obviously a lot cheaper to book flights to the west coast.
According to Travelscene Warrnambool manager Bronwyn Patel, Australian travellers have been taking advantage of the best exchange rates for years by snapping up holiday packages in the States.
She told The Standard that the strong Australian dollar has encouraged more people to head abroad, with many opting for a tour of San Francisco or Los Angeles.
"Longer trips might involve heading across to New York, Washington DC, Boston and places like that," she was quoted as saying.
Today (April 13th), tourists will find that one Aussie dollar will get them US$1.03 and a good way to ensure you do not fall foul of fluctuating currency markets is to purchase a travel credit card.
This essentially guarantees that you will receive the current rate of exchange, even if it has dipped by the time you board the plane.
