Get in quick if you want London bargains
Article by Mozo
Thousands of Aussies are expected to descend on London to cheer on their athletes in the 2012 Olympic Games – and at great cost.
As you might expect, hotel prices have soared ahead of the greatest sporting occasion in the world and Australians have had to shell out huge sums for decent accommodation.
Those who booked their digs in February would have benefited from the best exchange rates, as the dollar was at its strongest against the pound for quite some time.
However, Australian currency has weakened in the past few months, meaning visitors to the UK are now getting less bang for their buck.
Luckily, new figures released by Hotels.com have shown that hotel prices in the English capital have fallen since March, so any Aussies planning a last-minute trip could profit.
Director of marketing for Hotels.com Australia and New Zealand Katherine Birch said that as the event approaches, room rates could shoot up once again, so people need to move fast if they want to secure discount accommodation.
