Italy continues to appeal to Aussies
An increasing number of Aussies are looking to compare travel money deals before heading to Italy, it has been suggested.
President and chief executive officer at The Leading Hotels of the World Ted Teng stated that the European country is growing in popularity as a holiday destination among Aussies, e-Travel Blackboard reports.
He spoke as the owners of some of Italy's best hotels visited Sydney and Melbourne as part of a promotional campaign.
According to Mr Teng, Italian hotels saw their income rise by 24 per cent in 2011 and plenty of establishments in cities such as Rome, Milan and Florence welcomed a lot of Aussies throughout the year.
"Australians are constantly seeking the right blend of stay with authentic local experiences and guest benefits in the world's most inspired destinations," he was reported as saying.
Italy is perhaps so appealing because of its rich cultural history and many holidaymakers from down under are keen to see famous landmarks such as the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Roman Colosseum.
