Italy voted favourite destination for culture and food by Condé Nast readers

Italy claimed the crown of favourite country for the second year in a row in the Condé Nast Readers' Travel Awards and earned top scores for culture and food with an overall mark of 94.49 out of 100.
Other countries that shone in the awards included the USA rated as offering the best places to stay with an overall score of 93.89 out of 100, followed closely by France at 92.98. Greece was found to be the most hospitable country, followed by Canada.
Closer to home, Australia and New Zealand were rated highly for our landscapes and scenery and Sydney was hailed as having the friendliest people in the world.
The British magazine’s top island winner was the Spanish Balearic Islands, rated as offering the most enticing places to stay, outscoring even than the Maldives and Mauritius.
Florence, Rome and Barcelona impressed for architecture and New York stood tall on the podium for its epic nightlife and variety of places to stay.
