More Aussies flying to China, new figures show
A greater number of Aussies flew from Melbourne and Sydney to China in December 2011, new figures have confirmed.
Statistics compiled by tour operator Jetabroad have indicated that the volume of people heading to the Asian country from Sydney grew by 11 per cent during the month. The increase was even more impressive at Melbourne's main airport, as numbers were up by 21 per cent.
Bosses at the company believe that Aussies are taking advantage of the best exchange rates seen for many years by booking cheap flights to Asia. The fact that more direct services to China have recently been introduced has also helped.
Jetabroad managing director Darin Walters said trips to Asia will be even more affordable in 2012.
"We've always known that some of the best holidays in the world are available in countries like China, Indonesia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Thailand," he remarked.
According to Cheapflights.com.au, Aussies who are looking for value for money should book trips to Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam this year.
