Shrewd Aussies travel to Greece en masse
Shrewd Aussie holidaymakers appear all too aware that the ongoing financial crisis in the eurozone has led to some of the best exchange rates ever seen.
Tour operators down under have reported a spike in demand for trips to Greece, as people know that their dollars will stretch far further in this part of the world due to the ongoing economic turmoil.
Speaking to Travel Daily, managing director at Creative Holidays Paul McGrath said that interest in Greece is "thriving".
"Europe is very attractive to Australian travellers right now, and Greece is a fantastic value proposition at the moment," he commented.
Mr McGrath also suggested that London, Paris and Rome are continuing to appeal to Aussies who are keen to sample different parts of Europe.
According to bosses at Flight Centre, the high Australian dollar and relatively cheap airfares mean there has never been a better time to visit the UK in particular, e-Travel Blackboard reported.
