South-east Asia is proving extremely popular
Times are hard for a lot of people, but few Aussies are prepared to sacrifice their annual holiday in order to make financial savings.
Asia has always proven to be a popular place among Australians, primarily because it is relatively close and there are plenty of budget flight offerings.
A new report launched by the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) has indicated that south-east Asia is one of the most sought after destinations on the planet.
Visitor numbers in the area were up by 14 per cent in January and 11 per cent in February this year.
The organisation revealed that Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar, the Philippines and Singapore all attracted more than their fair share of tourists during the first two months of 2012.
With the dollar being so strong against the currencies in these countries, Aussies have been receiving the best exchange rates possible, which is another factor behind the growing popularity of south-east Asia.
