Travel agents still have a role to play
Article by Mozo
It is no secret that the internet has revolutionised the way we book our holidays.
Not only are people securing their annual break online, but Aussies can also buy overseas travel money and prepaid travel cards via the web too.
A new study conducted by Roy Morgan Research has indicated that 35 per cent of all foreign trips booked by Australians in the year leading up to March 2012 were completed online.
However, the survey also showed that 38 per cent of people still used the services of a high street travel agent during the 12-month period.
Although many tourism experts have predicted that such agencies will eventually become extinct, it seems there is still quite a large demand for them.
"Despite the increasing use of the Internet, travel agents are still playing a key role in assisting Australians to choose their overseas holiday itinerary," commented international director of tourism, travel and leisure at Roy Morgan Research Jane Ianniello.
