  • Mozo’s Ratings and Reviews Guidelines

    General guidelines:

    • Your review should be fair and truthful. If you have a crush on a banker or an axe to grind, this is not your forum.
    • You must be a customer to write a review, and your review should be an accurate reflection of your experience as a customer and not an attempt to provide advice.
    • You should not have a direct interest in the institution you are reviewing, such as employees, service providers and significant shareholders, or their immediate families.
    • Although Mozo may publish your reviews once they’ve been moderated we will not endorse your opinions or vouch for the accuracy and authenticity.
    • Your written commentary should support your numeric ratings and be helpful to other Mozo users. If you don’t include relevant and helpful comments, we won’t publish your review.
    • You can review a financial institution in multiple product categories (credit cards, home loans…) if you have more than one product with them. You can’t write multiple reviews for a single institution in the one product category.
    • You must provide a real email address – no fake details please. This is for registration purposes only and will not be published on the site.
    • By submitting a review you agree to our Terms of Use – Ratings and Reviews.

    Hints on writing comments:

    • Keep it short and snappy.
    • Think about highlighting pros and cons and sharing any tips you have for people who might be interested in this product.
    • Say it, don’t spray it. Offensive language is not accepted here.
    • Standards please. No slang or ALL CAPS.
    • Reviews containing unsolicited advertising will not be published.
    • No plagiarising. Your review must be your own words and not contain content from other sources.

    A note about moderation:

    • Once you’ve submitted your review, the Mozo team will check it to make sure it meets our review guidelines. As soon as your review has passed the moderation process, we’ll publish it on the site and send you an email to let you know it’s live. If for any reason your review does not meet our guidelines, we’ll notify you by email.

    Guidelines for financial institutions:

    • Mozo aims to facilitate a dialogue between financial institutions and consumers. We offer all financial providers a free right of reply to reviews posted on Mozo.com.au.
    • You agree not to allow employees, service providers or anyone with a direct interest in your institution to rate your own products as a consumer, even if they legitimately do have a product from your institution.
    • Please note this is not a forum for general self-promotion. Comments must respond to a specific customer review and we will not publish comments that contain unsolicited advertising. Once we have moderated your response to ensure it meets our review guidelines, we’ll publish it on the site.
    • To register your financial institution for Mozo’s free right of reply service, just drop us a line at partners@mozo.com.au.

    About the Mozo ratings

At Mozo, we don't make subjective judgments about financial services based on complicated criteria. Nor do advertisers influence our ratings. We simply let real customers have their say, and tally their votes to produce a list of Australia's best and worst banks and insurers, as decided by people like you.

We now have over 50,000 reviews from the Mozo community with more being added every day. We regularly crunch the numbers to keep the ratings up to date.

    How are the rankings calculated?

Customers rate their banking provider in a range of different areas such as overall satisfaction, price, features, customer service, convenience, claims handling and trust. Every review is moderated to ensure that it meets our reviews guidelines before it is published on our site.

The 2011 People’s Choice Awards include car insurance for the first time, with customers rating insurers overall satisfaction, value for money, policy coverage, customer service, claims handling and trust.

Every night we gather up the ratings from the last 12 months to calculate the overall rating for each provider and their products. This gives you the inside story on everything from the bank or car insurer with the best customer service to the highest rated providers of credit cards, home loans, car insurance and more.

Once a year, we use our ratings averages to award banks and insurers with our People's Choice Awards . Only providers who are Australia-wide and who have at least 30 reviews in a category in the past 12 months are eligible for an award.

Mozo gives you the inside story on the best banks and banking products as rated by thousands of real customers around Australia.

    About the people's choice awards

Mozo founded the People's Choice Awards for two reasons: to give banking customers a real voice in the money marketplace; and to give Australia's true stars the chance to shine.

Over the course of 12 months, from 20 August 2010 to 19 August 2011, we collated 23,356 customer reviews and ratings across 201 providers. This represents the largest financial conversation in the country, and the results – based on products that attracted a minimum of 30 responses – offer a genuine consumer survey on car insurance, credit cards, loans and savings products.

Each People's Choice category is calculated on the overall ranking for the product or provider, as rated by their users. The financial world's night of nights is then an opportunity to bring these best- rated deals out into the open, so the money public can catch a glimpse of Australia's bank and insurance stars.
