  I applied for a home loan and ended up dealing with juniors and staff who knew NOTHING about home loans and kept referring me to a 'home loan specialist' - a long wait each time. Worse, they don't read or understand documents sent to them and as a result, repeatedly asked me if I was self employed, despite receiving pay slips, signed letter from my employer, banking evidence and PAY Summaries. They have poorly staffed call centres and all staff I dealt with seem to follow a script and are incredibly in flexible and don't listen. I gave up and went with Bank West - almost the same rate and great to deal with in half the time, AND their product has redraw.

  I have recommended this product to family and friends. When I switched over loans it was all done online or by phone ,and I saved a bundle in interest charges. I also switched a savings account to U BANK and am now earning much more in interest.       Full review

  Although it is a vanilla home loan product without many bells and whistles, for many people this is really all they need. Low rates, no fees and 24/7 contact with a call centre if ever they need it. Downside: extra deposits take a while longer to clear and you cannot set up direct debits to the redraw account as well as the fact that statements are only every 6 months. Still a good offering though and I did the whole thing on the internet - how times have changed!!

  I had a great experience with the UBank Saver and setting up the UBank Home Loan was also really easy. However, once everything is up and running you learn that the feedback that they give you online is very very limited. You can only see your current balance and a few transactions. There is no indication of the amount that you can redraw. The only way to find out is to ring them up. The other major annoying thing is that to redraw money you also have to call them. Then you get the usual wait on the phone like any company. It doesn't make sense that a bank that is supposed to work entirely online has such limited online features for their home loan. In short - good rate, not great experience though. I'm hoping they pick up their game because it makes me want to move on.

  Ubank offers the lowest rate and online feature to upload your application without an application fee, (just for refinancing), which is excellent. I thought this is good place for me to switch the exiting mortgage. I applied for this loan mid of May, uploaded income verification and pay slips twice, probably they misplaced the first set or something has happened, after 2 months of waiting, finally I got my approval and my contract pack. I was so happy that day, Then I sent my signed contract pack on 15th of August. (I didnâ??t make any mistakes, I hoped)I have had a quick chat with my existing bank a week ago and they said settlement is ready to go, and they even gave me an indicative figure too. But I am still waiting for the settlement. Have made several phone calls to get an update, but no one gave me any good answer. It is a great interest rate, but rest of the process is terrible. They are a very friendly small team but no improvement has made to speed up the process. I understand they have inundated applications but this is a waiting game. You need lots of patience with ubank as it is a fee free bank.

  I have now been negotiating with UBank for a great rate of 6.72% variable, but it has taken me over two months of uploading documents, signing forms, ringing the call centre to eventually get this loan.   So much for "fast and simple". We applied 4/6/11 and still waiting for settlement to take place three months later. Finally supposed to happen this week but only after we had to make several phone calls and fix mistakes made by their own people. ...       Full review

  Unless you have time to loose and tolerance for incompetence, stay away. Long call waiting times, drawn out application process, time wasters! I was wanting to refinance my home loan as UBank were offering a better rate than I was on. Very disappointed with the whole process! Unreasonable documentation: Ubank has requested extra documents from me, so I submitted them and a few days later they called back and re-requested the same documents again, very long nonsense application process. Skype access to Call Centre rarely works; Messing about with mobile phone codes is a pain The worst customer service I have received from any bank: incompetent,underqualified staff and management.

  Great rate however it comes at a cost...CUSTOMER SERVICE! I applied for my loan on 25/5/11 and i'm STILL waiting for it to be finalised! It's now 5/7/11! Luckily it's a refinance, if they ever go into writing new loans beware, you may not make...       Full review

  The rate is great. The features are pretty basic and 1K minimum redraw is pretty useless, but for investors who don't need those facilities, it's a great product. Service is pretty slack.
